Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships, in partnership with Yancoal, is committed to growing local talent within the Hunter Valley regional community, through a leading four-year apprenticeship program starting in January 2027.

Based at our Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) mine in the Hunter Valley (just 10 km southwest of Singleton), you’ll gain practical experience working alongside skilled professionals in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Our people and culture are remarkably strong, driving accountability and excellent results. With a world class CHPP and fleet of mining equipment - a diverse range of trucks, excavators, draglines, shovels, water carts, graders, dozers and drills, there is never a dull moment!

What you’ll experience:

  • Hands-on training with a world-class Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP)

Inherent requirements of employment:
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Hold a current driver’s licence or have plans to obtain a driver’s licence within the first 12 months
  • Live within a one (1) hour drive of Yancoal’s MTW mine sites
  • Successfully pass a Pre-Employment Coal Board Medical including Drug and Alcohol and colour vision assessment
  • All school leavers from 2024 & 2025 to provide copy of school reports
  • Completion of HSC is desirable but not essential
